One of the biggest for-profit chains in the nation, ITT had been closely monitored by federal officials since 2014, when the chain was late to submit an annual report of its finances to the government. “They should have paid more attention to what’s going on in their own business and what’s going on with the students”, said Ricardo Lara, ITT Tech student.

The statement put the blame for the abrupt closures on a “a complete disregard for due process by the U.S. Department of Education”.

In Georgia, ITT Tech campuses were located in Douglasville, Kennesaw, Duluth and Atlanta. The government said ITT couldn’t recruit students with federal financial aid, the source of 80 percent of the company’s revenue.

They invested thousands of dollars in their education, but now students at ITT Technical Institute find their campuses closed. While students in Clovis grapple with the news they’re forced to try to look to the future.
