Ivanka markets her look after RNC speech

A lot of Twitter users felt that the 34-year-old daughter of Republican candidate Donald Trump should run after she introduced her father at the Republican National Convention on July 21. In the announcement on her website last month, she wrote, “If you ask me, there’s nothing more incredible than a woman who’s in charge of her own destiny-and working daily to make her dreams a reality”.

She vowed that her father would “change the laws and focus on making quality child care affordable and accessible for all”.

Her remarks drew some raised eyebrows among anti-Trump conservatives, however, including including Commentary magazine editor Noah Rothman. “I’m not sure what statistics you’re talking about”, Manafort said.

“My father values talent”.

Ivanka Trump took centre stage at the Republican National Convention on Thursday in the U.S. state of Ohio. It also provides a calculated contrast to a campaign filled with fashion faux pas, like Ivanka’s father giving out fake diamond cufflinks and the ,000 Armani jacket worn by Hillary Clinton while she preached about inequality. It was the same anecdote she told me when we met.

Thursday night, when she addresses the Republican convention, Ivanka, more than anyone else, might be the one to humanize her father to skeptical voters.

“Part of the reason we have such a good relationship is because he respects me, and because I’m candid in my opinions, and I share them, solicited or otherwise”, she told CNN.

While viewers from all sides of the spectrum were wowed by her poise, the New Yorker’s Emily Nussbaum suggested Ivanka Trump’s ability to effectively rile a crowd was as impressive as it was troubling. “She was out in California and really my relationship is with Tiffany”. “He hires the best person for the job, period”. Trump also said that the National Enquirer, which published the weird and totally unsubstantiated story about Rafael Cruz and Oswald, should win a Pulitzer Prize.

She used the words “empathy and generosity”, “kindness and compassion” and described her father as someone whose “sense of fairness” is “colorblind and gender neutral”. “Judge his competency by the towers he’s built, the companies he’s founded and the tens of thousands of jobs he’s created”, she said.

But don’t think that the entire 70 percent of women who hold unfavorable views of Trump, according to a Washington Post/ABC News Poll, will allow that to keep them from blackening the box next to his name on election day.

Trump will also double down on his promises to provide tax relief for business and renegotiate trade deals, ushering in more protectionist policies that are not typically hallmarks of the GOP platform – and that his own running mate, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, has opposed.
