Ivanka Trump cuts off Cosmo interview after tough questioning
Trump reiterated that her father should be “celebrated” for his “really incredibly plan” before saying she had to “jump off” the phone.

Come to think of it, one of those profiles did carry this line: “Ivanka Trump never dwells on scandal and leaves the details of policy to her father”.
In other batshit craziness from the right, a caller to a right-wing talk show run by an alleged “Christian” named Bryan Fischer asked, apparently with a straight face, if it was possible a “demon” had “latched onto” Hillary Clinton because she shows “the same type of behavior” that is “documented” when “a person is possessed”. As Revelist has covered before, providing maternity leave without paternity leave could cause women to fall back further in their careers than men.
Ivanka felt that it was a shame the interview couldn’t focus on the children and mothers like she had wanted it to. When Gupta pressed her on it, asking, “Where the two parents are both men, they would not be receiving special leave.?” The plan, right now, is focusing on mothers, whether they be in same-sex marriages or not.
When interviewer Prachi Gupta said “In 2004, Donald Trump said that pregnancy is an inconvenient thing for a business. Can you talk a little about those comments, and perhaps what has changed?”
You know, as much as I’d like to think Ivanka was thrown into this politcal mess out of lack of choice, I’m starting to believe more and more that she truly believes in everything her father says.
She even could have spun the “inconvenience” comment as a reflection of her father’s desire to implement a balanced policy that helps families without overburdening small businesses that must replace the productivity of mothers on leave.
“I would like to say that I’m sorry the questions, you’re finding them negative, but it is relevant that a presidential candidate made those comments, so I’m just following that up”, Ms Gupta replied.
Ivanka Trump argued that the questions were painting an unfair picture of his track record as well as his support of professional women.
I think what I was – there’s plenty of time for you to editorialize around this, but I think he put forth a really incredible plan that has pushed the boundaries of what anyone else is talking about.
Just to be clear, the “comment” in question was made by Donald Trump, not Gupta. Ivanka laughed. “Well, those are your words, not mine”.
Then there’s Ivanka’s self-congratulation that she’s “working to raise awareness on issues that are of critical importance to American women and families”, and the implication that she has played a role in these issues’ emergence into the mainstream.
“There’s tremendous benefit here to enabling the mother to recover after childbirth”, Mrs. Trump responded.
One of those interviews, with Cosmopolitan, didn’t go too well.
Ivanka Trump later explained her point of view in a series of tweets Thursday afternoon.
She added that child-bearing mothers in female couples would be eligible. Then Gupta asked why no paternity leave was included in the plan, and Ivanka Trump responded, essentially, that the plan is better than nothing.

On ABC’s “Good Morning America” Wednesday, Trump made another false claim, saying the Trump Organization offers paid maternity leave to all employees.
