She recited familiar stats on the gender wage gap, continuing, “As president, my father will change the labor laws that were put in place at a time when women were not a significant portion of the workforce, and he will focus on making quality child care affordable and accessible for all”.

Trump shared stories of working alongside her father, which included a special emphasis on the women that he himself promoted. He praised her forthcoming remarks and said she “does the princess thing very well”. This was greeted with tepid applause from the audience in stark contrast to her father’s speech that vilified illegal immigrants and was met with roaring applause and chants of, “Build a wall!” But you know, I think he wants it to come from my heart.
Unlike her eldest brother, Donald Jr., Ivanka Trump has been a registered Democrat in the past and was unable to vote for her father in the NY primary, although she has always pledged her total support to his candidacy. Today Ivanka is executive vice president of acquisitions and development at The Trump Organization and founder of her eponymous fashion line, the Ivanka Trump Collection.
She quickly became a go-to key surrogate for the campaign, widely seen as poised and polished – with the unique ability to smooth out some of her father’s rough edged, vouching for him in personal ways.
It’s a prominent role that the mother of three has been playing since Day One of the Trump campaign. “It’s also a prelude to reaching the goal that unites us all when this party, and better still this country, will know what it’s like to win again”, she said. “You have handsome women who are not very smart, you have lovely women who are very, very brilliant and smart, you have women that are not very attractive that are totally brilliant and also very successful”, he told Spencer.
Rather than speak about Trump’s common themes of national safety, protecting the police, keeping Muslim people out of America and generally “winning”, Ivanka spoke about equal pay and child care.
GLORIA BORGER: And let me move on now to the campaign a little bit. “Donald Trump has never done anything halfway, least of all as a parent”.
A view shared by some outside the family, considered such a strong asset that her name even came up during the vice presidential search.
