Producers recently confirmed that they were working on a fourth film in the Star Trek franchise.
J.J. Abrams has stated that he has no intention of recasting Anton Yelchin’s Pavel Chekov in the upcoming Star Trek films, following the actor’s passing.
“I Just want to take a moment to honor him, to acknowledge him, to celebrate him and to love him”.
He said: “This has been a very hard tour, because we recently lost a good friend of ours who is in the film, and it feels so weird to have to go out and sell this film after the loss of someone very close”. Abrams gathered the rest of the cast – including Idris Elba, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, Sofia Boutella, and John Cho – to the stage to pay respects to their late costar, who died in a freak accident last month. “I’m new to that kind of grief and new to losing people and it’s just an very bad thing but at least we had our friends there”.
Leonard, who had a cameo as an alternate reality version of his character in the modern films, is honoured within the plot of the new movie, a tribute Zachary was delighted about. Monteith played the show’s lead male character, Finn, and Finn was in turn killed on the show, in an episode that left the cause of death vague and ended with a message from the devastated cast about substance abuse.

Star Trek Beyond will be the first time that we have seen the actor on the big screen since Green Room earlier this year.
