In the wake that followed, Paramount Pictures made a decision to keep the star’s character Ensign Pavel Chekov out of any new marketing materials, including the TV spots and banners.

Actor Karl Urban plays Bones “Star Trek Beyond”, the third installment of the franchise that’s hitting theaters this summer.

“Anton Yelchin should be here”, JJ continued.

The PostMedia Network caught up with producer J.J. Abrams, and asked the hard question about what will happen to the character of Chekov.

Anton Yelchin died last month at the age of 27 after a freak vehicle accident at his home in Los Angeles, California.

The producer says that his team is still weighing their options.

Paramount Pictures, Skydance and Bad Robot announced on Monday that they were going ahead with the fourth film in the rebooted Star Trek series, starring Chris Pine and Chris Hemsworth. So to not address it as something that had a spotlight on it felt true to the nature of what “Star Trek” is, but also to me seems like the natural progression of hopefully where we are headed ourselves in real life, ” concluded Jung.

Speaking to Postmedia Network [via The Toronto Sun], Abrams said, “I would say there’s no replacing him”.

Star Trek: Beyond director Justin Lin told Inside Edition: “I think it’s the characters, I mean it’s a group of people from various backgrounds gong on a journey”. Says Abrams about handling the situation surrounding Nimoy. They could either put themselves out there to promote the film in the raw and devastating weeks following the death of their beloved co-star, or they could withdraw.

And because Lin’s “Fast & Furious” films live up to their names, it’s not surprising that the action set pieces in particular and the look of “Beyond” in general are among its strengths.

Yelchin, 27, died in a freak vehicle accident on June 19 at his California home.

Both deaths hang heavily over Star Trek Beyond in its finished form, which includes tributes to both men.
