The deal is reportedly for two years and $5.6 million. Barea have agreed to a deal keeping him in Dallas, as indicated by Puerto Rico’s El Nuevo Dia. Free agency is far from over, so it will be interesting to see what Cuban does with the absence of a starting point guard. He returned to Dallas last season after the Minnesota Timberwolves bought out the remainder of the four-year deal he signed in 2011.

Terry helped the Mavs capture the 2011 National Basteball Association title and started at point guard for the Rockets late last season and in the playoffs after an injury forced Patrick Beverley to the sidelines. Barea will have to be the team’s last signing because of the nature of the exception – the team can offer it even if it has reached the salary cap.

Devin Harris and Raymond Felton also are under contract with the Mavs and have plenty of experience playing point guard, but they are best suited coming off the bench.

The Dallas Mavericks have a bit of a hole at the point guard spot, and not much depth at the two (behind Wesley Matthews, whenever he returns to form). With Jordan in the team, Lin can create openings for both himself and DJ.
