J.J. Watt, Texans defense stifles Chiefs to exact playoff vengeance
Remember how the special teams were solid last week?

DE J.J. Watt, CB Kevin Johnson and LB Whitney Mercilus recovered first-half fumbles for Houston, marking the first time in franchise history the Texans had three fumble recoveries in the first half of a game. Especially with New England entering Thursday night about as wounded as a Texan fan could reasonably hope for.
Houston never trailed in the contest. Nick Novak nailed the PAT, and Houston led 7-0. It took just one play and 7 seconds for the Texans to cash in on the miscue.
Novak connected from 32, 24, 31 and 43 yards. The Texans have been impressed with Clowney this season after he failed to make an impact in his first two injury-plagued seasons.
The KC Chiefs went to Houston looking to continue the offensive outburst the team displayed late in the San Diego Chargers game the week prior.
Cairo Santos made three field goals in the fourth quarter to cut the lead to 19-12, but Houston recovered the onside kick with less than a minute left to seal the victory.
Brown’s third field goal capped an 11-play, 70-yard drive that featured two third-down passes by Manning and a pass interference call on a throw to Odell Beckham Jr. In Week 1 against the Chicago Bears, the Texans pressured Jay Cutler on 19 of his 35 drop backs limiting him to a 50 percent completion rate with five sacks and an interception.
The difference though was how strong Houston was when the Chiefs had the ball.
Osweiler completed 19 of 33 passes for 268 yards and a touchdown.
Coach Bill O’Brien was very pleased with his team’s performance. I’m sure every team does that. “He’ll get better at that”.
“Yeah, I think so – I think so”, Reid said.
Chiefs coach Andy Reid found the lack of discipline from his team frustrating. “I thought last week he looked good”. We’ll find out later this week if that return will come against the Jets. Ultimately, a host of failed third-down conversions, needless penalties, and turnovers kept the Chiefs out of the win column this afternoon. Again, rookie Will Fuller V showed what he was capable off by taking the top of the defense to catch a 53-yard reception in the first quarter. They should get a ton of credit for what they did today.
“Listen, we’re not playing tiddlywinks”. Absolutely not. We have a higher standard.
“The fourth quarter, we had to get some tough yards to keep the ball moving and keep the chains moving”, Miller said after the game.
“I never lost a fumble, ” he said. Those guys were flying around. He was sacked four times and had a quarterback rating of 68.1. The secondary was making plays.
