Jammu: Union minister Jitendra Singh on Friday said that there were no differences between coalition partners BJP and PDP in Jammu and Kashmir where decks have been cleared for government formation.

“The BJP legislators who met here today, have unanimously elected Dr Nirmal Singh as the legislature party leader and he will also be the BJP candidate for the post of deputy chief minister”, state BJP chief Sharma said. Singh will also be the BJP candidate for the post of the deputy chief minister.
BJP state president Sat Sharma said the party also supported Mehbooba Mufti’s candidature as chief minister.
Mehbooba Mufti was on Thursday unanimously elected as the leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmakers. “We have Peoples Conference of Sajjad Lone as our pre-poll alliance partner and of course we are of the opinion that being the big brother, we should be given the required number, equal share in the government”, BJP MLA from Nowshera, Ravinder Raina who was part of the crucial BJP meeting, said.
“No, we did not ask for any time or date to go and meet the Governor”.
A Raj Bhavan spokesman told the media that the Friday meetings of the state PDP and BJP presidents with Vohra could not take place and the two will now meet him after seeking a fresh appointment.
“We have to discuss certain issues before both of us visit the governor together to stake claim”, he said.
Speaking to reporters, Jitendra Singh said that there was never a breakdown in the coalition with the PDP. “It is just a continuation of the process which started about a year back”, he asserted.
“There were no differences”. When you are in coalition then you have to take care of each other’s priority and each other’s preferences and that is what we do in a healthy coalition.
Earlier in the day, BJP’s interlocutor on Jammu and Kashmir Ram Madhav said “legislative party of the BJP in Jammu has made a decision to support PDP in the formation of the government in the state and together BJP and PDP will approach the Governor and stake the claim for formation of the government very soon”.

After more than two months of stalemate over the formation of the government in Jammu and Kashmir, a meeting between PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday sealed the deal between the two allies. The two parties later appointed a coordination committee having two members each from the two parties, reports said. They (BJP) will do that after their meeting with PDP.
