It said Pakistani troops “befittingly” responded to the unprovoked firing.

“Pakistan’s invitation for talks came as Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at an all-party meet on Kashmir yesterday, said, “‘Pakistan-occupied’ Kashmir is ours” and blamed the current unrest in Jammu and Kashmir on cross-border terrorism.
“India used all types of heavy weapons including mortar and artillery”.
Pakistan’s fresh ceasefire violation comes after a lull of four months.
The defence ministry has confirmed it. Spokesperson Lt Colonel Manish Mehta said that the ceasefire violation came during the wee hours, with Pakistan resorting to small arms fire.
However, no casualties or damage on either side have been reported so far.
Instances of firing across the Indo-Pak border have occurred intermittently over the years.
Indian Border Security Forces opened indiscriminate and unprovoked fire and bombardment at Nezapir Sector sector. The contact was made via the hotline established between the two DGMOs, it added.
In July, relations between India and Pakistan deteriorated again amid a new surge of clashes in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir with protesters demanding more autonomy or even independence for the region.
Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh traded barbs over Kashmir at the SAARC Home Ministers Summit in Islamabad earlier this month.

According to ANI reports, the Indian forces are now retaliating to the firing.
