The store is larger than its Nashville cousin, and features a host of special editions from the vinyl-loving label, and its sister imprints Sun and Paramount Records.

On Thursday, White threw a soirée to preview his new Third Man Records Cass Corridor location.

“Everything about this neighborhood to me seems like the ideal place for the renaissance, the rebirth, the growth from the ashes that Detroits gonna rise from.

Also showcased on Thursday was a 10,000-square-foot space behind the store that will be home to a vinyl record pressing plant.

Officially launching on Record Store Black Friday, early bird fans got the chance to pick up rare seven-inch vinyl prints of early singles by Motown acts Marvin Gaye, Barrett Strong and the Supremes.

Eight machines have been purchased from Germany and are expected to be delivered in January, according to Swank, with the plant operational by spring – although he added that Third Man will also maintain its current relationship with United Record Pressing in Nashville.
