Jack Wilshere: Arsenal midfielder mocked by Twitter while undergoing medical at Bournemouth

The presence of Bournemouth striker Benik Afobe, a former Arsenal team-mate and godfather to Wilshere’s child, may also have helped persuade him to move to the south-coast.

Wilshere completed his season-long loan move from Arsenal on Transfer Deadline Day, with the Cherries paying a £2million loan fee and the player’s £90,000-a-week wages.

Sky Sports claims five clubs are interested, including three from the English Premier League-Crystal Palace, Bournemouth and Watford. New national team boss Sam Allardyce did not select him for the squad to face Slovakia on September 4.

Sam Allardyce has also made it clear that this season he wants his England squad members to be playing regular first team football for their clubs in domestic competition.

The England worldwide has been plagued by injuries in recent seasons and played only three times in the Premier League for Arsenal last season after suffering a fracture just prior to the start of the campaign.

If Wilshere can prove himself for Eddie Howe’s side this year he could salvage his Arsenal and England career.

Howe said: “I never make a promise of games for any player but with Jack’s quality, if he is fit then he will be available for the team”.

“Jack just hasn’t had enough game time”, he said on Monday.

“Hopefully he will get that in the future at Arsenal”.

But the main reason he has not been getting this regular game time with the Gunners is the bad luck he has had with a string of injuries that have plagued our midfielder since he broke through from the academy as a scintillating teenager.

And the presence of Granit Xhaka, Francis Coquelin, Mohamed Elneny, Santi Cazorla, Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil means Arsenal have no need to replace Wilshere.
