Wenger admitted the 24-year-old moved because of the lack of opportunities he had to break into the first team, due to the injuries.

As it is, it looks like Wenger simply wants to see Wilshere playing regular, competitive football in the Premier League.

But Wenger believes it is a chance for Wilshere to rebuild his career and insists he wants him to finish his career at Arsenal. He wanted games and I can understand his desire. You can not be out for two seasons and then want to be at the top level. Let’s not forget that he missed past year. you can’t afford to be out two seasons without playing at the top level. “He has a real football brain”.

“I couldn’t guarantee that, so that’s why (we took) the decision”.

Wenger confirmed that Sanchez only returned from global duty with Chile on Thursday night and he has yet to decide whether to start him against Southampton on Saturday, with the Arsenal boss suggesting his squad has strength in depth to cope with his potential absence. “He’s most risky when he plays further forward”, the Arsenal manager said.

“He’s a world-class player and he doesn’t have to show me that he has the quality to play at Bournemouth, just that he comes back to a regular competitive level”.

‘That’s where I prefer him, I don’t think he’s a defensive player, ‘ said the Arsenal boss. I do not try to be right, but if I give him out and he plays, I will be more right.

He said: “I hope personally that [Wilshere] stays his whole career here”.

“Certainly one day he will be in my seat”, Wenger was quoted as saying by the Mirror.

“I think we would have loved to have held on and got our first win against Crystal Palace (when they were denied by an injury-time equaliser) but it wasn’t to be”. His reply took in Wilshere’s ability and impatience, the competition for places at Arsenal and the situation that the player finds himself in after missing nearly all of last season because of a fractured fibula. “I had a good chat with the manager and feel sure this is the best place for me to play and develop this season”.

The Frenchman insists Wilshere remains a 'world class&#039 midfielder
