Jackie Bradley: Jackie Bradley Jr. homers, knocks in six
He has homered five times in his past seven games. “This is what I’ve always seen”.

Brett Gardner delivered the tiebreaking double with one out in the bottom of the eighth inning as the New York Yankees overcame three home runs by Kansas City Royals center fielder Lorenzo Cain in their 10-7 victory. Shaw drove in five of the Boston runs and the longest current hitting streak in the major leagues continues, as Jackie Bradley Jr. extended it to sixteen games, going two for four with a run batted in.
Victor Rodriguez, the Red Sox assistant hitting coach, stressed that Bradley needed enough playing time to develop and build confidence. This proved to be costly for Porcello, as Khris Davis would come through with a two-out single, bringing home both Coghlan and the speedy Burns.
Bradley said he has gained strength as he has gotten older by eating healthy and working out hard. “I still feel great and everything”. Whether it’s a patient approach, fouling off multiple pitches to lengthen at-bats or simply taking an OK pitch the opposite way to keep the wheels turning, everyone has bought in to the team-first approach.
Bradley Jr. went on a similar streak a year ago, as over a 25-game stretch last August he hit. “But honestly, I think it’s been a lot of speed work. He’s swinging it well, man”. He gave up a solo shot to Mookie Betts in the first, and later in the inning Hanley Ramirez crushed a two-run shot to dead centre.
Bradley has struggled behind the plate severely in his past few seasons. He also has a. 977 OPS.
However, from that point on, it would be all Red Sox.
“Those are… main contributors to what we’ve done so far this year”, Boston manager John Farrell said of the youngsters. He wanted more but said, “I thought I got traded or something” when he got pulled after 87 pitches.
Although the A’s have dropped 12 of their past 16 games and are 1-3 to start their nine-game trip, manager Bob Melvin saw some fight in his team. 303 (.353 on-base percentage) with seven doubles, four triples (league leader), four home runs, 21 RBI, 17 runs, and two steals in two attempts in 31 games.
There was no mercy to be found in Fenway Park, as the Red Sox scored at least 13 against Oakland for the third straight game. Tonight, they did not, and so chose to make up for it by scoring for the next five straight. The Sox are the highest-scoring team in the American League by a wide margin, having put up 183 runs to the second-best Texas Rangers’ 149. Porcello improved to 5-1 and allowed three runs on six hits in 62/3 innings. The eight hits in as many at-bats (he also had a walk mixed in) tied a club record, last tied by Dave Magadan in 1997.
Athletics: LHP Eric Surkamp (0-2, 5.59 ERA) will return from a stint at Triple-A Nashville for his first start for Oakland since April 24. Manaea retired the next four batters, including coaxing a double-play grounder to end the first inning.
Boston was not perturbed by the tied game and Chris Young promptly hit a double in the bottom of the third to drive in Dustin Pedroia.
“It’s pretty good”, Bradley, Jr. said on his confidence at the plate. “He’s looking to attack”.
Bogaerts hit his two-run blast over the Green Monster in the first inning. It was his sixth. The game ended with the Red Sox on top 13-3. Lefthander Marc Rzepczynski allowed singles by Shaw and Christian Vazquez to start the inning.
He earned himself a role out in center-field for the Boston Red Sox, and it may have been well deserved.
Andrew Triggs was the next Oakland reliever. His hit scored Anthony Rendon, who had singled and stolen base before a walk to Bryce Harper. Yonder Alonso would bring the catcher home with two outs.
When an offense scores 40 runs in a three-game series, who can argue with that?

The 2004 Sox are third on the franchise runs list with 949, just 15 more – or nearly one game against the A’s – than the current Sox.
