Jacksonville Jaguars end Indianapolis Colts’ AFC South win streak in rout
Blake Bortles has 30 touchdown passes, behind only Tom Brady and Carson Palmer.

Blake Bortles threw for three touchdowns and ran for a score – all in the second half – and the Jacksonville Jaguars beat Indianapolis 51-16 on Sunday to end the Colts’ 16-game winning streak in the division. He also had a pass breakup on a downfield throw in the second half.
The second half was a completely different story, starting with a terrific play by Allen Hurns on an 80-yard touchdown pass to open up the game. The Jaguars managed 13 touchdowns and a field goal in games against Tennessee (42-39 loss) and Indianapolis (51-16 win). When the Colts went three-and-out on their next possession, punter Pat McAfee kicked to Jaguars returner Rashad Green.
Hasselbeck missed two plays in the third quarter after being hit by Jaguars defensive linemen Roy Miller and Chris Clemons. He allowed another pair of receptions but immediately brought down the receivers after quick grabs. The Colts (6-7) can take the AFC South with three straight wins and reach the playoffs. That’s where I think their hopes get erased. “He was very aggressive in his technique and we felt we wanted to take a look at that”.
“I thought the guys did a really good job of not folding to adversity and coming out in the second half and responding offensively”.
-Cornerback Greg Toler (knee) was held out of the Jacksonville game but could return in time for Sunday’s game with Houston.
No one should count out Jacksonville, which has scored more points (90) than any team in the National Football League over the last two weeks. That fumble resulted in a 49-yard return for a touchdown which turned a 13-3 Colts lead into a 13-9 game. “Our defense was playing well so we had to match them”.
The Colts’ postseason hopes would be dead if they played in any other division. We made this bed.
“It’s not going to discourage us”. It had also been reported that Luck is pain-free while throwing, although doctors are the ones making the final decision on Luck’s clearance, and not team brass. He was not intercepted. “As they get more tape on him, they have more opportunity to know his tendencies and what he likes to do”, Colts safety Dwight Lowery said. “What a great day today”. This team will stick together, I know that. Though the quarterback’s left arm was in a sling in the locker room Monday, coach Chuck Pagano said he “fully anticipates” Hasselbeck will be available against the Texans. “We have to keep grinding and keep believing that we’re going to get to our goal”, he said.
“Somebody needed to rise up and make a play here or there”.
We’ll pause for a moment while you gather your composure after spitting out your morning coffee. He has had a few games where he broke through with huge performances, but those performances aren’t consistent.
Left tackle Anthony Castonzo said he could return to practice this week and may return to action Sunday.
If neither Luck nor Hasselbeck can play – still an unknown at this point – the onus will shift to Charlie Whitehurst, the pony-tailed third-stringer that was called to town last month after Luck lacerated his kidney. He returned after the first injury but sustained a rib injury in the fourth quarter and did not come back. Indy’s T.Y. Hilton caught four passes for 132 yards….
NOTES: Jacksonville’s win ended a string of seven consecutive losses to the Colts…. Jacksonville (5-8) is now one game behind the Houston Texans (6-7), who lost 27-6 Sunday night at home to the New England Patriots.
