Welcome to the National Football League, rook.

Houston Texans quarterback Brian Hoyer was able to orchestrate a little bit of magic right before halftime Thursday against the Indianapolis Colts, connecting with wide receiver Jaelen Strong on a 42-yard Hail Mary with time expiring. Buried deep inside coach Bill O’Brien’s doghouse, Strong was only active because of injuries to Cecil Shorts and Nate Washington.

The rookie from Arizona State came on for only one play in the first half, and ended up making the biggest play of the game.

Jaelen Strong is hoping the catch will improve his position on the depth chart. Strong didn’t even have a single defender’s hand to worry about as he caught the ball for a touchdown. He was drafted in Round 3, which was a surprise after a few reports suggested he could go late in Round 1. He’s starting to get back in their good graces.
