Jaguar design director Ian Callum told Top Gear that the I-Pace was a concept vehicle, and it was getting closer to the final version of the product. (NASDAQ:TSLA) is making a lot of progress towards being the leader in the electric auto industry, the competition is not sitting by idly either.

Sitting high on its front haunches (an unusual deviation from Jaguar’s bootylicious roots), it nonetheless projects a brand-appropriate athletic, muscular stance, with its cab-forward design presenting an opportunity by not having an engine to worry about. The vehicle has mid-size crossover proportions, with a length of 184.2 inches and a long wheelbase of 117.72 inches.

One variant that arrived in Thailand features a 2.0-liter Ingenium diesel engine trim level of the 2017 Jaguar F-Pace, capable of exuding 180 horsepower that is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The I-Pace’s battery electric architecture has been created with applications in other derivatives and model lines in mind. The cantilevered centre console is trimmed with looping metal struts that give access to a storage space below. The rear cargo hold has 18.7 cubic feet of space.
