Jaguars Beat Colts 51-16, Ending Indy’s AFC South Streak

The Jacksonville Jaguars made a few noticeable changes to their defense on Sunday to try and bolster their anemic pass rush, but it was the play of a much-maligned defensive end that provided them with the spark they needed en route to a 51-16 victory over the Indianapolis Colts. The sprained knee injury kept Yeldon out for the majority of the second half.

It helped Jacksonville gain ground in the muddled division, remaining one game behind the Colts (6-7) with three to play. Dummies like myself like to hold out hope that the Colts we all expected will show up and beat the Jaguars by 30. When the Colts punted again, Rashad Greene returned it 73 yards for a score. That hiked the Jaguars lead to 23-12 with just under 12 minutes left in the third quarter. They are now allowing just 3.6 yards per carry this season, but have been wearing down as the season has gone on as they are allowing 4.5 over their last three.

“I definitely thought this was a complete win”, Bortles said. “I think everybody saw the same thing that we saw, so this is two ballclubs that throw out all the records”. “You don’t need to feel good on Monday or Tuesday, you’ve just got to feel good on Wednesday and more importantly, Sunday”. But Meyers also missed his NFL-high seventh extra point following the Jaguars first touchdown. The Jaguars all-time scoring record is 62 points set in a playoff game against Miami in January of 1999. This was a Colts team that scored their 16th point early in the third quarter and then gave up 35 unanswered points to the Jaguars. He picked up the loose ball and went 49 yards for a touchdown that cut the Colts’ lead to 13-9 with 1:01 to play in the first half.

“You never want to lose in that fashion”, Colts linebacker D’Qwell Jackson said. Both referred to the Colts’ bad loss to the Jaguars in 2006, a 44-17 defeat played in Jacksonville.

“It’s not going to discourage us”. With quarterback Andrew Luck out they have gone 4-1 but will play without five starters today as they play Jacksonville in a critical AFC South matchup. Wide receiver Allen Hurns is expected to return after missing last week’s game with a concussion, but star linebacker Paul Posluszny is unlikely to go after suffering a broken hand in last week’s 42-39 loss at Tennessee. The Jaguars subsequently scored their final touchdown. In the receiving end, Allen Robinson had 153 yards and three touchdowns in 10 catches while Yeldon added 79 yards in four catches. He was not intercepted. “I talk to my dad about it all the time, and I’m strong in my faith, and I knew I was going to come back this year”.

“It’s always great to get on the football field but it’s not the way I wanted to get on the football field”, said Robinson. While they are at home, that passing game has been a force to be reckoned with and the Indianapolis secondary has been pretty friendly to opposing teams recently. Nobody can listen to that, nobody in that locker room. There was even some concern he might not be able to play this week, which would turn the duties over the Charlie Whitehurst, which would be interesting, to say the least.
