Jaguars expect Ivory to play in opener despite calf injury

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Chris Ivory (calf) is listed as questionable for the team’s Week 1 game against the Green Bay Packers.

Ivory is inactive against the Packers on Sunday, although it doesn’t appear the calf injury is the reason for his absence from the lineup. They say it is for a “general medical issue” without any further specifics about what caused Ivory to seek medical attention. With Ivory sidelined, T.J. Yeldon will be the primary ball carrier in the team’s season opener.

Ivory ran for 1,070 yards and seven touchdowns with the New York Jets last season.

Yeldon, who the Jaguars drafted out of the University of Alabama in the second round of the 2015 draft, rushed for 740 yards on 182 carries during his rookie season previous year.

Should Ivory be forced to miss extended time, Yeldon should move into every-week start status as the primary ball-carrier.
