Jaguars fall short in upset bid of Packers

“Once again, it came down to a gutty play from our defense”, Green Bay coach Mike McCarthy said.

“I don’t think we played that well offensively”, Rodgers said.

The offense made big plays consistently. The Jags are 0-1, but they won’t stay winless long. Suddenly, the Packers started acting like they had never been in a huddle together, which, in the case of new guard Lane Taylor, wasn’t that far off. Robinson took the high road, saying “I’ve got to adjust my physicality to the game”.

A couple of snaps later, Rodgers ran in it from the six. It was fourth-and-1 or whatever, so we just have to get it.

Though the Packers offense produced 27 points on Sunday, the passing game remained largely inefficient. The quarterback linked up with Marcedes Lewis to pick up 37-yards before TJ Yeldon ran the ball into the end zone from five yards. After a pair of three-and-outs the Packers, Jacksonville was able to put 10 points on the board to go in front. There’s a lot of trust that goes on between those two.

Overall, the season-opener provided more positives than negatives.

And they managed little pressure on Rodgers, who threw for two touchdowns and ran for another. “More info will be provided at that time”.

Packers receiver Randall Cobb appeared to suffer a minor knee injury in the second half.

Leading 24-20 with about 12 minutes to play, Green Bay faced a 4th-and-goal at the Jaguars’ 2-yard line.

But the Jaguars couldn’t stop hurting themselves. “Blake gave me a ton of opportunities to make a play”.

Robinson caught six passes for 72 yards but needed 15 targets to compile the total.

Despite the unexpected situation, the Jaguars were functional on offense, totaling 348 yards of offense to Green Bay’s 294.

Certainly, some of those single game tickets could have found their way into the hands of Packers fans, but the number of tickets available were considerably less than years past. Ryan Wood joined him after going down to the locker room and talking to several players about the game.

Aaron Rodgers #12 of the Green Bay Packers warms up during a game against the Jacksonville Jaguars at EverBank Field on September 11, 2016 in Jacksonville. However, No. 1 CB Sam Shields left the game with an undisclosed injury late in the fourth quarter and did not return.

The inactives were Joe Callahan, Trevor Davis, Jhurell Pressley, Josh Hawkins, Chris Banjo, Kyle Murphy and Jayrone Elliott.

Packers fans have been aided in their quest in some years by the availability of single-game tickets, but this year, as the Vikings open U.S. Bank Stadium, their tickets are popular enough that getting into Sunday’s game might not be quite as easy – or, at least, not quite as cheap. Even though the new barn is air conditioned, it might be an even hotter atmosphere than Jacksonville provided.
