Jaguars’ Fowler kicked out of practice after skirmish

Had it not been for that groin injury that cost him all but the final two games of the 2012 season, he might be finishing his career in Jacksonville.

Luke Joeckel is taking most of the snaps at left tackle in training camp but is expected to move to left guard when Kelvin Beachum returns to full-time action. Trainers adjusted the brace he wears to protect the knee on which he underwent anterior cruciate ligament surgery during the 2015 offseason. Everything is going good. “Our defense continues to build confidence and happy to see the offense go down there and score”.

After a lackluster performance at their first practice with the Jaguars, the Bucs players got an earful from coach Dirk Koetter on Wednesday. His passion and energy are a good thing, and it is apparent that he is eager to embrace his role to the fullest.

This was the first time that Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley scheduled a joint practice.

Bradley also said that because of the high intensity level of these two practices, the team will not treat Saturday like they would traditionally handle the second preseason game of the season.

“It was very good”.

Whatever the case, Bradley hopes the practices go off without a hitch. I thought our team had a much crisper approach than we did (Wednesday) so I’m pleased with that. It was good. That was really good two-minute work, where we got four drives, two on each side. The best pass coverage is a good pass rush and you see we have a little juice on that pass rush, even with the four man rush. “I’m looking forward to them”.

“The calendar says he’s 34 years old; he’s not 34 years old”, said Buccaneers defensive coordinator Mike Smith, who held the same position with the Jaguars from 2003-07.

“Competition against different looks is always good”, Koetter said. Those guys did a good job. I thought it was good, competitive culture, nature, vibe, whatever you want to call it. “If we do joint practices every other week, I’d be fine with that”.

-Defensive end Dante Fowler Jr.is often referred to as playing with a high motor.

Part of what happened Thursday may be due to frustration on Fowler’s part. Jaguars defensive linemen Sen’Derrick Marks and rookie Yannick Ngakoue quickly separated the two combatants.

“Our deal was no fighting, no swinging, no anything like that, ” Jags coach Gus Bradley said.

“(Fowler) brings that intensity. You have to have a plan. It came easy for him right away. “He just has to channel it”.

The joint practice feel will be a new one for most of the Jaguars’ roster. Coughlin is now working in the National Football League office as a special consultant.
