Jaguars gaining in AFC South despite stalling in red zone
■ Thomas caught the game-winning touchdown on a 5-yard pass from quarterback Blake Bortles with 3:30 remaining in the fourth quarter. That’s when Jaguars defensive end Andre Branch came up with the Jaguars fourth sack of Mariota with the clock winding down, giving the Jaguars consecutive wins for the first time since December of 2013. The Jaguars (4-6) pulled even in the win column with AFC South-leading Colts and Texans (tied at 4-5). Although you wouldn’t have known from the first play of the drive, when Aaron Colvin sacked Mariota for a loss of seven. The Tennessee rookie completed 22-of-35 passes for 231 yards and nearly led the Titans to a last-second win over the Jaguars.

“We felt like if we got it to fourth-and-one at that point in time in the game, there was a strong percentage we were going to go for it”, Bradley said as he explained the thought process on a conference call Friday afternoon. “They pay me to make plays like that and get interceptions”. Mariota did it on his own, and the flawed plans of the Titans, along with a few ill-timed injuries, have put the rookie quarterback in a position where that’s the only way he can win. I think it’ll come down to Week 17 when the Jags travel to Houston.
The front four produced three of the Jaguars four sacks in Week 11. With my predictions I have for the remaining schedule, I have the Jags finishing the season and winning the division at 8-8. The return was Jacksonville’s longest punt return in five years. But on the first play from scrimmage, Phillip Supernaw would catch the Mariota pass and then would fumble the ball.
Both teams were frustrated in their attempts to drive towards the endzone in the first quarter, as Titans forced Jaguars into a three-and-out on their first drive before good coverage from Johnathan Cyprien returned the favour minutes later.
Myers and Succop would both wind up kicking several field goals in this game, as they combined for six field goals and two extra points.
Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles rebounded after a poor showing the previous week in Baltimore.
They finished the game having allowed just 316 yards of total offense, their third lowest total of the season.
The success that Bortles has enjoyed offensively this season has come from his connections with his wide receivers, most notably Allen Robinson who has 45 catches for 758 yards and seven touchdowns this season.
“I’m so happy for these guys”, Jaguars coach Gus Bradley told NFL Network following the game.
If they stayed to the end just for pleasure and with no dog in the hunt, I contend these are people with either questionable fantasy teams or no life. Receiver Rashad Greene was recently activated from injured reserve, and running back Denard Robinson has been limited by a knee injury thus far. “It was second-and-two and we just felt like we could get it on three downs by running the ball”.

YOUNG QBS: Mariota and Bortles showed why they’re considered two of the league’s top young quarterbacks. The Titans put together an 81-yard march, including two pass-interference penalties against the Jaguars for 48 yards, in five plays. The bad news is that the only other team they managed to best this season are the Chicago Bears. He was treated for dehydration at one point during the game, but did not miss an offensive possession.
