Jaguars select Jalen Ramsey at No. 5
He turned out to be the second defensive player drafted after the Chargers took Ohio State defensive lineman Joey Bosa at No. 3.

With the fifth overall pick, the Jacksonville Jaguars selected Jalen Ramsey, who was versatile at both cornerback and safety with FSU. “I feel like I can work outside, in the slot or play deep”.
Coach Jimbo Fisher raved about Ramsey’s ability and expects him to play in the National Football League for a long time. “I can play on the back end because of my physicality, but also because of my range and length”. The Tennessee native is the third FSU defensive back to be drafted in the top five, joining Deion Sanders (fifth overall, 1989) and Terrell Buckley (fifth overall, 1992).
The Jaguars previously spent big in free agency on defensive tackle Malik Jackson, safety Tashaun Gipson and cornerback Prince Amukamara.
While quarterbacks often avoided Ramsey’s half of the field and he wasn’t given many opportunities to make interceptions, he still finished his collegiate career with just three and didn’t catch a single one in 2015.
During his time at Florida State, Ramsey compiled quite the resume. “He will be a tremendous player for the Jacksonville Jaguars and I’m looking forward to watching him on Sunday’s for years to come”.
The NFL Draft is finally here!

Ramsey figures as an immediate starter, though it remains to be seen which position Ramsey will play. PFF called him the best cornerback in the 2016 NFL Draft at defending the run and he often ran right through college wide receivers who attempted to block him.
