The next goal in Luck’s rehab from a lacerated kidney is to practice this week. Even Luck, when he’s been on the field, for his poor play (and not sliding). For all of Irsay’s talk about not relying on one player, this team is far more dependent on Luck being brilliant than they ever were on Peyton Manning. That’s what I’ve told the guys.
Colts head coach Chuck Pagano updated the media on Hasselbeck’s status today. A win against the Texans will certainly help, but the return of Luck would make all the difference.
“When you take time off, it takes a little more time to get back into it”, Luck said of the conditioning aspect for his rehab. Defensively, the Colts yield 280.4 yards in passing and 118.7 yards in rushing. That gave the Colts a 13-3 lead with 1:56 left in the half. Their final red-zone trip in the third quarter was wrecked by a holding call on Jonotthan Harrison, and another field goal was the result. Those two teams play next week and the Jaguars still have a game remaining against Houston. When these two meet on Sunday they will be on equal footing and quite possibly with backups.
“Really no update, no change, heading in the right direction, feeling better, all that stuff”, Pagano said, explaining that the team’s medical staff had not informed him of any change in Luck’s availability. They got absolutely smoked by the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday after holding a four-point lead in the third quarter.

This game has to be the worst loss in the Pagano/Grigson era. Jacksonville (5-8) is now one game behind the Houston Texans (6-7), who lost 27-6 Sunday night at home to the New England Patriots.
But that doesn’t mean he will play in Sunday’s all-important home game against the Houston Texans at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Luck and Pagano say no. He is coming off of a serious injury and there are going to be some signs of rust after he missed a few weeks. Toler might be allowed to practice on Wednesday.
