Boston police are investigating an apparent nightclub scuffle involving 76ers rookie center Jahlil Okafor that took place early Thursday morning after an individual approached police Friday morning stating he was struck by Okafor during the altercation.

A law enforcement source told CSNPhilly.com that a gun magazine was recovered near the scene and submitted for fingerprint analysis.

Jeff Goodman of ESPN also reported that one source who was with Okafor during the incident confirmed to him that the 19-year-old was heckled. “There is a process going on and I’m not allowed to talk about it. I’m sorry”. “Saying the Sixers suck”.

The man said in the report that Okafor and another man came toward his group and requested phone numbers from some of the women. The rookie delivered a devastating blow on the man which left him out cold in the ground. Meanwhile, Boston police said Friday they do not plan to investigate the incident unless someone involved comes forward to say they were the victim of a crime.

The situation has drawn in even more negative attention from the mainstream media and has caused the 76ers to question the future of Okafor.

“It was definitely dumb on my part”, Okafor said Friday of the incident. Not only has Philly failed to win a game, they’re the worst offensive team in the league. But I’m not happy about it at all. Things escalated and a man identified as Okafor in the video appears to knock out one of the hecklers. Regardless of what does happen, Okafor’s multiple run-ins since arriving in Philadelphia are a troubling development.

“We tried to make light of it in the timeout when they were coming back, trying to loosen up the mood”, he said. “I’ll never handle it like [he did Thursday morning] again”.

At the start of the video, Okafor can be heard shouting to someone, “We got money, you broke ass…”

“We are aware of the report and we are now working to gather additional information”, the 76ers said on a statement. As has been mentioned before, Okafor is an adult and is responsible for his own behavior, but the Sixers need to address how that activity affects the team’s, and his, well-being as soon as they possibly can. You know, life is filled with pitfalls.
