Jailed entertainer Rolf Harris faces more sex crimes charges

Rolf Harris has pleaded not guilty to indecent assault charges relating to seven alleged victims.

Harris, 85, was convicted in July 2014 of assaulting four girls in Britain between 1968 and 1986.

Disgraced entertainer Rolf Harris, now serving a six-year jail term for child sex crimes, is to be charged with seven more indecent assault offences dating back 45 years.

His barrister Stephen Vollo QC tried to prevent that the full details of the charges against Harris being read out in court.

– Indecent assault on a girl under the age of 14 at the BBC Television Centre in Wood Lane over the Christmas period in 1983.

Harris is also accused of indecently assaulting a woman aged over 16 at Terminal Studios in London in 2002, as he prepared for an appearance at Glastonbury Festival.

One was blind, had cerebral palsy and very limited mobility when she was allegedly attacked in 1977.

Harris has strenuously denied any wrongdoing and has enraged victims by penning songs in prison in which he proclaims he is innocent and his accusers were only after his money.

– Indecent assault on a disabled woman over the age of 16 outside a London hospital in 1977.

Asked to identify himself, he said “Rolf Harris”.

Mr Maine said that after that incident the girl would turn off the television when Harris appeared and couldn’t stand the sound of his voice.

Prosecutors said it was a prolonged attack of about 10 minutes during which the woman thrashed her head about but could not escape.

The woman was told by colleagues that Harris was a “dirty old man” and to “get with the program” as there was a policy that “no woman rides the lift alone with him”.

After the hearing, a spokesman for Harris’ family read out a brief statement: “We are disappointed and saddened that the CPS have chose to make Rolf, who will be 86 years old at the end of March, face another trial”.

“We, for our part, will do all we can as a family to assist him in proving his innocence”, the statement said.

District Judge Purdy referred the case to the Crown Court for a preliminary hearing on April 14 to determine trial dates.
