Jake Gyllenhaal eyed for lead role in Boston Marathon bombing flick
Jake Gyllenhaal could be about to take on his most intense project to date – a lead role in the Boston bombing film, Stronger.

Pineapple Express filmmaker David Gordon Green has been tapped to direct Stronger, based on the book by Bauman and Bret Witter, which details the aftermath of the tragedy.
“When Jeff Bauman woke up on Tuesday, April 16th, 2013 in the Boston Medical Center, groggy from a series of lifesaving surgeries and missing his legs, the first thing he did was try to speak”, reads the Amazon synopsis for the book.
Given the guy’s talent, it’s only a matter of time before the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences decide to reward Jake Gyllenhaal with his very own Oscar – we’re just waiting to see what that feature winds up being. Studio executives have met with multiple leading men to discuss the role, but sources say Gyllenhaal is the favorite to reel it in, with a formal offer expected shortly, Variety reports.
He was since learned how to walk again, using his new prosthetic legs.
Stronger will be the third movie which deals with the marathon bombings.

Meanwhile Jake has a number of other serious dramas ready for release. Speaking of, the actor also has EVEREST which will open in theaters this September, as well as DEMOLITION which will hit the Toronto worldwide Film Festival later this year.
