Watt continued to shine later in the first quarter when he took Smith down for his first sack this season, forcing the Chiefs to kick a field goal that made it 7-3.

Hopkins and Fuller gave Houston two players with at least 100 yards receiving for the eighth time in franchise history and the first time since 2013. New Houston quarterback Brock Osweiler was 19 of 33 through the air for 268 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions. A solid score prediction could be something in the 17-13 range going all the way down to the last few minutes and resulting in a win for either team. “A really good team win”.
The game was also redemption for the Giants’ defense. It was a comfortable opening win for the Texans. Houston’s All Pro DE JJ Watt is less than 100% due to a back injury but continues to play through the pain. He was a step slower and a good deal stiffer than usual. His presence on the field still lead to protection shifts and opportunities for his team-mates, but without sounding too gloomy, if Watt was just knocking off some rust last week that’s one thing, but if his level of play against Chicago is what the Texans will get all year then it’s a problem.
Looking ahead: The Chiefs, 1-1, face the New York Jets, 1-1, at 3:25 p.m. Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium. Laurent Duvernay-Tardif is out with an ankle sprain and rookie Parker Ehinger is out with a concussion.
While I wouldn’t expect Kansas City to be quite as awful as it was in Week 1 at stopping the run, the Chiefs will struggle with Miller and allow him to electrify with over 100 yards and two total TDs. Last season they had only one first half with as little as a field goal.

The Chiefs’ victory was not as easy, however, as quarterback Alex Smith struggled in the early going of the game, and the team fell behind early. The teams combined for just 10 penalties and only one personal foul. If in fact the receivers especially Jeremy Maclin are covered most of the game and Jamal Charles is out, Travis Kelce must play a major role. Chiefs cornerback Marcus Peters was called for pass interference; obviously, it was declined.
This will be close. This is the first year Houston has this caliber of an offense together, they should get better as the season moves along given they will have better familiarity with each other.

As I mentioned earlier, the Texans offensive line is not exactly the most stable, and they were able to get away with that last week against the Bears.
