Jamelia exits Strictly Come Dancing, going out on a high at Blackpool

The celebrity duo, joined by TV presenter Anita Rani, are the latest to confirm they will whip up a frenzy on the dance floor alongside Frankie Bridge of pop band The Saturdays.

But it hasn’t been plain sailing for Anita, 38, who this week had her right hand strapped up in a wrist support following a rehearsal in which she caught her thumb going through dance partner Gleb Savchenko’s legs.

The 34-year-old Loose Women star and her partner Tristan MacManus found themselves in the dance off against Peter Andre and his partner Janette Manrara, but it seems it was Jamelia’s time to go. I’ve had the most fantastic time.

Darcey Bussell agreed: ‘The couple I would like to save on their improvement on tonight’s performance is Peter and Janette’. The show’s results climbed to a series high of 10.8 million viewers last night as Peter Andre and Jamelia danced off at the iconic Blackpool Tower Ballroom.

However, it seems that could all have been just a warm-up as the show makes its now annual pilgrimage to the spiritual home of ballroom, Blackpool.

Tristan added, “Jamelia’s done great and even tonight, it was a completely different dance we’ve just done and unfortunately someone else did a completely different dance as well, it was unbelievable!” I have made probably the most superb set of buddies.

“But you can’t expect to always have a good week”, he told co-host Tess Daly.

With only seven celebrities now remaining in the competition, each will have to perform two dances per show in the remaining episodes.
