The BBC’s top billing Saturday night show, Strictly Come Dancing gave audiences at home and in the dazzling Tower Ballroom a gloriously glitzy celebration of dance.

Strictly Come Dancing will see its first ever Quickstepathon next weekend.

Bruno Tonioli dubbed the performance – which saw Georgia descend to the stage sat in a sparkling crescent moon – “pure ballroom bliss” whilst head judge Len Goodman admitted he was “blown away”.

Kellie and Kevin, and Jamelia and Tristan are both doing a Quickstep to Dolly Parton’s Nine To Five, and The Monkees’ I’m A Believer respectively, and finally Jay and Aliona are doing a Salsa to Cuba by The Gibson Brothers.

Jamelia told Daly and Claudia Winkleman that her Strictly experience had been “fantastic”. So with a 3-1 vote against her, it was the end for Jamelia.

Asked for his opinion, Craig Revel-Horwood said: ‘I would like to save Peter and Janette’.

Ainsley says: “I loved my time on the TV series and am now really looking forward to getting out on the road; it’s going to be so exciting to feel the reaction when we step out on to those arena dance floors with all the other celebrity dancers and their professional partners”.

Tristan said: ‘First and foremost we are dance teachers, we compete and what we want to do is pass on a few sort of information to someone and the improvement in Jamelia every week has been unbelievable and I couldn’t be more proud’. I’ve met the most wonderful set of friends.

Georgia says: “I am so excited to be part of the Strictly Come Dancing Live Tour”.

Jamelia said she was sad to leave but was at least pleased to have made it as far as the coveted annual Blackpool Tower ballroom extravaganza.

Tristan added: “Jamelia’s done great and even tonight, it was a completely different dance we’ve just done and unfortunately someone else did a completely different dance as well, it was unbelievable!”

Tonight’s show featured performances from Take That and Anastacia.

The brand new feature will offer the chance for the remaining couples to earn valuable extra points.

The show will start at 6.50pm on BBC One on Saturday and will open with the dancers performing an Upstairs, Downstairs-themed Lindy Hop routine.
