James Anderson out of England v South Africa first Test
Anderson aside, England have enjoyed a profitable build-up to the series against the world’s No1 Test team.

While Cook’s side have triumphed only once in their last 15 overseas tests, South Africa need to win the series to retain their top ranking in the test standings.
A nice present this year would be to win the toss, after Cook lost it all three times during the Test series in the UAE to Pakistan’s captain Misbah ul-Haq.
Broad, who will lead the attack in the Lancastrian’s absence, feels Anderson may have featured had the forthcoming encounter been a series decider, but England’s impressive back-up options meant it was a chance not worth taking.
“It’s absolutely vital he plays the way he plays for Nottinghamshire”, Cook said.
“Both groups have come from dropping earlier excursions”.
AB de Villiers will take over the wicket-keeping role from Dane Vilas, who was up to the task in challenging conditions behind the stumps in India.
Hales had impressed as a limited-overs opening batsman but, after starting the 2015 County Championship with some high scores, he convinced the selectors that he had the skills required for the longer format. Dale Steyn may not be at his best in terms of pace, fitness or form, but his availability will boost South Africa’s attack.
“The way Dale has been bowling in the nets has been unbelievable”, Amla said. It has been his most productive Test year. “We’re really glad to have him back”.
England, on the other hand, have been poor travellers in recent times. Boxing day provides cricket with incredible atmospheres and unbelievable enthusiasm. “It’s a different side to the two times I’ve played them previously but they’re still ranked No1 in the world and they’re tough to beat at home”.
“There’s no question England are confident of pulling off their second unexpected success of the year, but they will have to bat better than they did while winning the Ashes”.
England are increasingly mindful of his workload and may blanch at the prospect of committing him to the possibility of 10 days cricket out of 12. If he fails, Nick Compton will move quickly from three to opener.
Speaking on Christmas Day, also his 31st birthday, Cook said: “Chris is going to play”.
“I enjoyed it and it was a really good experience, but I didn’t score the runs I’d have liked”.
Lot’s of eyes will be placed on South Africa’s younger and newer addition to the squad, with players such as Stiaan van Zyl, Kagiso Rabada and Temba Bavuma likely to be named on the sheet as they want to prove hoe exciting the next generation of South African cricket is going to be.

England have a problem with James Anderson not fully fit for the first Test. Their bowling suffer with too much similarity considering both Stuart Broad and Steven Finn are primarily hit-the-deck bowlers.
