James Corden not interested in replacing Stephen Colbert
For this special Great White Way edition of Carpool Karaoke, Corden tapped “Hamilton” creator and star Lin-Manuel Miranda, and the two of them kicked things off with a rendition of “Right Hand Man” where Corden admirably keeps pace with Broadway’s hottest new performer.

While the video will certainly raise the profile of Sunday’s telecast, it’s less certain that it will give this year’s Tonys a ratings bump, as Corden’s digital success hasn’t yet translated into any linear growth for his show.
Adding to the excitement this year, Broadway legend Barbra Streisand is returning to the Tonys for the first time in 46 years, where she will be a presenter.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, it turns out that when you stick a bunch of Broadway stars in a vehicle and ask them to sing show tunes, the result is one of those school field trips where the theater kids sit in the back of the bus and sing their way through the entire score to Rent. So it wasn’t all that surprising to see Lin pop up in the latest carpool sing along.
The genius of Carpool Karaoke is the way it makes even the most untouchable stars-Jennifer Lopez, Sia, Adele-seem friendly, depicting them as approachable people who look goofy when they sing in the vehicle, just like us. “I just don’t know my way around NY at all”. “It’s a long evening, so just have fun… belt out a few show tunes”.
The 70th annual Tony Awards, hosted by James Corden, will broadcast live from the Beacon Theatre in New York City on June 12 at 8 pm ET on CTV. You get that high note, Audra.
“Still, he said he could not be more excited”.
At one point during the ride, Corden asks Ferguson, who co-stars on the hit TV show Modern Family, which he prefers more, “Theatre… or money?”
Oh, and yes, he actually does drive a auto, but he has production vehicles in front of and behind him and he rarely goes over 20 miles an hour, executive producer Ben Winston told Vulture in January.

Monday’s Broadway-themed Carpool Karaoke, which contains a Tony Awards “bug” touting Sunday’s airdate, has already racked up more than 200,000 views.
