James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke Of ‘Hamilton’ Is Better Than Broadway

Tony Awards host James Corden prepared for his latest gig with a special Broadway version of The Late Late Show’s popular segment. “Hamilton” has a record-breaking 16 nominations, including a trio of bids for Miranda: Best Actor in a Musical, Best Book of a Musical and Best Original Score. But convincing stars to join in was a challenge at first.

Fans were treated to a most encouraging preview from host James Corden. My son talks to his friends in school in an American accent and then when he comes home and talks to us he talks in a British accent, which is very, very odd.

And it all came down to Mariah Carey, who was the first to acquiesce to Corden’s self-professed “ridiculous” request.

And the British actor turned United States star told radio DJ Howard Stern that his most hard guest in the passenger seat was the very first one – Mariah Carey, who, despite being a veteran diva, flat out refused to sing.

Now just a little over a year since launching “The Late Late Show with James Corden”, Corden has proven that he has no trouble finding laughs and an audience.

The Carpool Karaoke clips have also scored millions of views online. “Hamilton’s selling fine so I don’t feel that kind of pressure”.

“They want to have a great time”.

The timing was no accident: the Tony Awards, hosted by Corden, will air this Sunday. He did his most thrilling Carpool Karaoke yet with some of Broadway’s biggest voices to help pump up support for the upcoming Tony Awards telecast, which James just so happens to be hosting.

Corden said a few weeks ago, when speaking to Entertainment Weekly, that he’d really love Beyoncé and Bruno Mars to take part next. I get that it features a bunch of famous people and it can be fun to watch them dick around.
