On the printed page, Mantis is the “Celestial Madonna”, and possesses incredible martial arts skills and a whole suite of mental powers.
Take a look at the concept art and expect a lot more coming from Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 2 next weekend when the Marvel panel debuts at San Diego Comic Con 2017. “With Nebula, well, you never know what’s up with that one”. “He’s a younger Groot and a more rambunctious Groot”.
Schwartz also teases that Groot himself could be different, after “dying” and regrowing as a sproutling at the end of the first film.
‘The question is, is he the same Groot, just smaller? Dave Bautista’s Drax is still his shirtless self, but the tiny baby Groot on his shoulder suggests that this sequel takes place shortly after the events of the first film as everyone’s favorite sentient tree hasn’t had the chance to grow up. For another, there’s a brand new character standing there behind our team.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is scheduled for release on April 28th 2017 in the United Kingdom and on May 5th in the States, with director James Gunn reuniting with returning cast members Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax), Bradley Cooper (Rocket), Vin Diesel (Groot), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Michael Rooker (Yondu), Glenn Close (Nova Prime) and Sean Gunn (Kraglin) alongside new additions Kurt Russell (The Hateful Eight), Elizabeth Debicki (The Man from U.N.C.L.E.), Chris Sullivan (The Drop), Pom Klementieff (Oldboy) and Sylvester Stallone (Creed).
And now, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is following a similar path. New cast members include Pom Klementieff (Oldboy), Elizabeth Debicki (The Great Gatsby, Everest), Chris Sullivan (The Knick, The Drop) and Kurt Russell (The Hateful Eight, The Thing).
