James Harden scores 50 points as Houston Rockets send Philadelphia 76ers to

James Harden went absolutely nuts Friday in a 116-114 home win against the 76ers, which sent Philadelphia to its record-setting 27th straight regular season loss.

Following on from last year’s winless streak, Philadelphia have now dropped 27 in a row to record the longest losing streak by any team in major USA professional sports history.

Harden exploded with 50 points from 28 shots as the 76ers fell to 0-17 for the season in Houston.

Guard Isaiah Canaan and forward Robert Covington led Philadelphia’s attack with Canaan scoring 23 points on four of 10 three-pointers, while Covington added a career-high 28 points plus seven rebounds and eight steals.

While the Golden State Warriors have set a new record winning streak for a season start (17-0), the 76ers miserable form has ensured record breaking headlines for the wrong reasons. He’s now scored 40 or more points in three of the last five games, but despite his heroics Houston is still just 2-3 over the stretch and 2-7 in their last nine as the rest of the roster struggles to provide their superstar with consistent support. One day removed from a Boston nightclub altercation, rookie Jahlil Okafor had 11 points and six rebounds.

Cavaliers 95, Hornets 90: LeBron James had 25 points and 13 rebounds for Cleveland, extending his personal run of dominance against Charlotte. Nikola Mirotic scored a season-high 25 points for Chicago.

Harden led the Rockets to one of their best shooting performances of the season, helping Houston win for just the second time in its last nine games. He played in all but two of those.
