James Pattinson and Nathan Coulter-Nile named in Australia

Coulter-Nile and James Pattinson have been included in a 12-man squad for the clash in Hobart that starts on 10 December.

Coulter-Nile is likely to be named 12th man in Hobart but will come into contention if any of the fast men succumb to injury or fitness concerns. “It will be very hard for Josh Hazlewood to get through six Tests in a summer and then go to New Zealand and play two more and we also have a one-day series against India”, Marsh said.

McDermott said it was “only a rest period (for Starc) at the moment”, but that it was a wait and see situation.

Rod Marsh, the selection panel chairman for Australia believes that it was his “gut feeling” that he chose to have Nathan Coulter-Nile as replacement for injured Mitchell Starc.

“Everyone out there looks at me as if I’m an idiot when I say that”.

“But he has been a proven performer for Australia in short-format cricket and has very good pace”.

“Back yourselves against Aussies, Richardson tells Windies: Caribbean great Richie Richardson Tuesday urged the maligned West Indian tourists to back themselves and take on Australia in the coming three-Test series”.

“Injury’s always disappointing but that’s part and parcel of fast bowling so it’s about recovering now and healing and getting back on the horse and I guess working back on my bowling”.

But in the second innings with Australia needing just two runs to win and three wickets in hand, Starc came out to bat at No. 9 despite not being able to run freely.

“I have every confidence that day-night Tests will continue to be embraced by more boards in the near future to, in time, become a regular feature of Test match scheduling”.

The West Indies will target perceived weaknesses in Australia’s middle-order batting and aim to play aggressive but smart cricket during their tour of the country, skipper Jason Holder said Monday.

Australia bowled New Zealand out for 208 to set a victory target of 187 and though seamer Trent Boult’s five wickets took the match down to the wire, the hosts’ lion-hearted paceman Peter Siddle stroked the winning runs under the floodlights.
