Cleveland.com is also planning a live feed with commentary that is scheduled to begin as the parade gets under way.

Fans stood on rooftops and portable toilets or hung out of office building windows to witness Cleveland’s first championship parade in 58 years, when the Indians knocked off the Braves in the World Series.

When Browns Hall of Fame running back Jim Brown handed the Larry O’Brien Trophy to Cavaliers superstar LeBron James, the city’s long wait was officially over.

But on a sun-kissed summer day in this football-crazed town, everyone was a Cavaliers fan and Cleveland wrapped its arms around a team that came together and defied the odds to win it all.

Even though the title gives him the freedom to do whatever he wants for the rest of his career with a clean conscience, it would have looked weird if James hadn’t tried to defend the title at least once in Cleveland.

“A lot of biblical references here”, Mark Urycki of member station WCPN tells our Newscast unit, “when you talk about King James, who was known as the Chosen One, and then the Second Coming….”

The parade will conclude with a massive rally at Mall B, a large outdoor public space where James and other celebrities are expected to speak. Much of Cleveland is under construction or renovation as the city gets ready to host the Republican National Convention next month.

The company announced in May that it would be replace the 10-story-tall James banner with a red, white and blue one that says, “This Land is Our Land”.

Hundreds of thousands lined downtown streets to celebrate the city’s first professional championship team since the 1964 Browns.

CLEVELAND (AP) – A parade held somewhere else for more than a half-century is rolling through Cleveland. This is the celebration James promised when he returned to his home state two years ago. ESPN reports that Cavs star and eventual Finals MVP LeBron James used Jobs’ 2005 Stanford commencement address as a tool of inspiration to rally his comrades before their Game 3 bout against a Golden State Warriors team that was at the time leading 2-0.

James, however, did add one caveat (emphasis ours).
