MOST people would be pretty happy after spearheading their nation’s first Davis Cup win in 79 years.
“I don’t speak to any of the people who are in a high-up position about that”, he said.
“We need to keep in mind the time of year we have got. We should celebrate tonight”. Three of those points came in the win over Belgium at the weekend.
Former British Davis Cup captain John Lloyd, meanwhile, claims the governing body “has gone backwards” under the stewardship of Michael Downey.
“It’s just the timing of the competition”.
Murry clinched the tie with a 6-3 7-5 6-3 victory over Goffin, sparking jubilant scenes and an emotional response from the Great Britain team.
Murray didn’t hold back in his assessment of the LTA.
Players in each of the coaching sessions then competed as members of either the British or Belgian teams in fun tournaments.
The LTA was heavily criticised by figures inside and outside the game for the failure to capitalise on Murray’s Wimbledon success in 2013.
The world number two believes the International Tennis Federation, which organises the Davis Cup, and the ATP should do more to ensure scheduling problems can be resolved.
“It was a nicer feeling than after Wimbledon, it might sound wrong to say but I didn’t really enjoy that (Wimbledon), I was so relieved to have done it and didn’t enjoy it as much, whereas here I enjoyed it so much more”, the 28-year-old said. “All of us understand this will be one of the best moments in our careers regardless of what anyone goes on to achieve after this”.
Murray, ranked No. 2 in the world, is unbeaten in Davis Cup play this year.
Edmund sits two places outside the top 100 and next year will be a significant one for him, while Evans has climbed back from a low of 772 in May to 185.
Leon Smith, the team captain, hit the mail on the head, saying: “There’s so much change, and every time you change, you have to start again”.

But Cameron dropped a clanger when he congratulated the team for winning the “David Cup” on Twitter via the official UK Prime Minister account shortly afterwards.
