According to French sports daily L’Equipe, the Blues contacted the player’s advisers earlier this week to express an interest in signing the 21-year-old defender.

Oscar posted a snap of the pair on his Instragram with the caption in Portuguese, “he returned”.

Chelsea’s situation verged on crisis and fans began to aim their frustration at technical director Michael Emenalo, who habitually takes the brunt of transfer-related criticism.

Oscar then posted another picture of himself with his agent Giuliano Bertolucci and representative Kia Joorabchian.

PSG had previously turned down approaches from Chelsea for both Luiz and his Brazilian team-mate Marquinhos, telling them that neither defender was for sale.

Chelsea had sold Luiz to French champions PSG for a whopping £50 million just two years ago.

A fan favorite at the Bridge, Luiz is set for an emotional return to the London club on deadline day Tuesday, having expressed his unsettlement in PSG.

The deadline day arrivals followed N’Golo Kanté, Michy Batshuayi and Eduardo Carvalho in joining Conte’s Chelsea revolution. “We had a fantastic story during my first time at the club and I want to help the team and Antonio Conte achieve a lot of success”, Luiz told Chelsea’s official website.

“I’m very happy to be here again”.

“It was an easy decision for me to make when I heard the club were interested in signing me”. “I can’t wait to wear the shirt and play in Stamford Bridge again”. Together, the two will provide some much-needed depth to Chelsea’s defensive ranks.
