Jamie Carragher calls on Liverpool to sign a “f*****g left-back” after watching Alberto Moreno’s error-strewn outing in the Europa League final.

The Reds appeared to be edging towards a first European trophy since 2005 when England striker Daniel Sturridge scored a brilliant goal before half-time to capitalise on Liverpool’s dominance.

Within seconds of the restart their lead was wiped out though, with Sevilla star Mariano making a great run and beating Moreno far too easily.

“Just 17 seconds into the second half and it was a real lack of judgement and concentration from Alberto Moreno, who had an bad second half”, McManaman told BT Sport.

It’s fair to say Carragher, and Liverpool, have had better nights.

And Owen and McManaman were left with no doubt as to who was ultimately the biggest culprit in the defeat, pinning the blame squarly on the former Sevilla defender. “Let’s not dress it up, Moreno cost Liverpool in the end”.

“He just went wandering at times”. ‘He’s a left back and that’s a shocking header, you should head it high and where you are facing, so it’s a bad header to begin with.
