Jamie Dixon Named TCU Basketball Head Coach: Contract Info, Comments, Reaction
Dixon replaces Trent Johnson, who struggled with the move to the Big 12 from the Mountain West Conference.

Multiple sources told CBSSports.com and ESPN that Dixon will leave the Panthers for the Horned Frogs.
Dixon, 50, garnered a 328-123 overall record and won two Big East regular season championships at Pitt, but hadn’t led the program to the Sweet 16 since 2009, when the Panthers were a No. 1 seed but lost to Villanova in the Elite Eight.
Dixon took over as Pitt’s head coach in 2003 after Ben Howland left for UCLA.
TCU is welcoming him home, however, to lift their fortunes in basketball.
Dixon is under contract through 2023 and said in 2013 he meant to finish his career at Pittsburgh. They have only made the NCAA Tournament seven times in their history and only twice since 1971, the last coming in 1998.
Parrish is reporting Sunday that TCU is “zeroing in” on offering Dixon a deal that would essentially match what he now makes at Pitt. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported he made $3.2 million in 2014, including bonuses and incentives.
Dixon and TCU have tried to come together before. He hit a last-second shot to win a game against Texas in 1986.

TCU is expected to formally announce the hire Monday or Tuesday, at which point we’ll have more information.
