Jamie Redknapp: Why Jose Mourinho is right choice for Man Utd
Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has said he hopes Ryan Giggs stays at the club when Jose Mourinho eventually takes over as manager.

“I admire him as coach and personality”.
“He is very intelligent, he demands 100 per cent of his players”.
“When I was at the club, we were expected to win things and win the Champions League as well or at least do well in it”. I think Ryan’s big dream is to one day manage United.
“I am a former Chelsea player and I support the club now; Jose could have gone anywhere except Manchester United, especially after his escapades with Sir Alex Ferguson”.
He definitely knows how to grind out wins but to criticise his tactics after some of the football we’ve seen from United under van Gaal would be ridiculous.
He told Sky Sports News: “I’m convinced this has been going on for a long time, with a lot of meetings taking place”.
Cantona added that he would have “loved” to see Pep Guardiola take over at the club. “He is the spiritual son of Johan Cruyff”.
The ESPN FC piece goes on to say that “United are preparing to offer Carrick a one-year extension, just like they did last summer, with Mourinho giving it the green light”.
Mourinho seems to have identified this problem in the Manchester United squad and has made Karim Benzema one of his top transfer targets for Manchester United, according to a report in the Independent.
Van Gaal’s preferred possession-dominated playing style at a club more readily associated with fast, direct attacking, was widely criticized, and it appeared to take his players time to adapt.
Robbie Savage, who came through United’s academy with Giggs and later played alongside him for Wales, believes the player with more appearances for the Red Devils than any other has been harshly treated.
Mourinho is expected to bring long-time assistant Rui Faria and goalkeeping coach Silvino Louro with him, meaning Van Gaal’s assistant coaches Albert Stuivenberg and Frans Hoek are likely to be dismissed.

A 3-2 defeat to West Ham in the penultimate Premier League game of the season ultimately signalled the end of United’s chances of qualifying and may well have been the final nail in Van Gaal’s managerial coffin. And United’s owners will be scratching their heads at where all the money went.
