Jamie Vardy wrote his name into the record books on Saturday, becoming the first player to score in 11 successive Premier League matches as his Leicester City team drew 1-1 with Manchester United at the King Power Stadium.

The next target for Vardy is Jimmy Dunne’s mark, the Irishman having once scored in 12 consecutive games in the English top flight for Sheffield United in 1931-32.
“I think it’s common knowledge now that I’m getting an injury every week”, Vardy said.
“We didn’t win in such an important game but I have to say we have played against PSV Eindhoven and we gave everything”. His manager Claudio Ranieri described him as “this fantastic man” after he scored on Saturday. “I have kept my head down and not tried to think too much about it. I can think about it when I am home but as soon as I cross the white line all I should be concentrating on is my football”.

Chelsea technical director Michael Emenalo is interested in Vardy, while United boss Van Gaal is also keen on signing the player who is formerly of FC Halifax Town and Fleetwood Town.

The England forward struck in the 24th minute, running onto Christian Fuchs’s pass and arrowing a shot past David de Gea to break a record he had previously shared with former United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy. “I hope Vardy continues these very good performances”.
Watching a replay of his ecstatic goal celebration after the game on Sky Sports, he said: “Unbelievable”. He has just beaten this incredible record.
