Jamie Vardy Claims Liverpool Wonder Strike Was Best of His Career

“Unbelievable”, Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri called it, while Juergen Klopp, the Liverpool counterpart, could only sigh: “It was a world-class goal”.

Claudio Ranieri’s team extended their lead at the top of the Premier League standings, as Jamie Vardy netted twice in the second half at the King Power Stadium. “I had been looking all game and he (Simon Mignolet) was quite far off his line”, he added.

Vardy now has 18 goals this season following his brace, scored in front of watching England boss Roy Hodgson, and said his volley was his best strike for the Foxes.

Leicester will need Vardy to be at the top of his game, having failed to score in their last three league matches against Saturday’s opponents, including a 0-0 draw in December’s reverse fixture.

“This is a secret!” – and there was more amusement when it was put to him that a brilliant passage of one-touch passing against Liverpool had prompted comparisons with Barcelona on Match of the Day.

“It’s nothing people don’t know, I’d like to be here for a long time”, Vardy told Sky Sports.

They are the two highest scorers in the division but I think that stalemate is an indication of how it’ll pan out tomorrow.

Van Basten was one of the stars of the Netherlands’ golden generation of the 1980s and 1990s, famed for producing some of the most magical goals of all time.

“The good thing with a clear plan is you know about it, so they won’t change a lot – but all the other teams knew about it too and they couldn’t avoid their strengths for 95 minutes”.

The Belgian goalkeeper has recorded seven clean sheets this season and has missed less than a handful of Premier League games since joining the team in 2013. “I think it’s a sensational goal”.

“He looked at the ‘keeper out of the goal and hit it. It was unbelievable, amazing, fantastic”.

When it comes to the player of the season, Arsenal’s German worldwide Mesut Ozil takes the crown just ahead of City’s Riyad Mahrez.

They face City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, and here are three talking points surrounding the Foxes title challenge. “It was a very good performance and I am very pleased with my players”. Anything can happen and we’ll continue to fight until the end.
