Jamie Vardy: How I broke scoring record against Man United

How will these feats-in addition to the myriad other storylines emerging from the league this weekend-effect our player form rankings? I want to play as many games as I can and help the team out in as good a way as I can.

Fans from the Premier League’s elite in the Transfer Tavern are discussing whether to continue with their interest from an excelling star, after a mammoth price-tag was placed upon him.

It’s not just goals, assists and heroic clearances that impress. What made the record even more special was the fact that he scored the record-breaking goal against Manchester United – van Nistelrooy’s old club.

Van Nistelrooy, whose record had stood since 2003, was quick to congratulate Vardy, writing on Twitter: “Well done @vardy7!”

Jamie Vardy’s record scoring run will encourage Premier League clubs to scour for further hidden gems, according to fellow non-League graduate Chris Smalling. “But it is not something that can stop me from playing”, he said.

He added: “It’s one job getting here [into the first team] but it’s 10 times harder making sure you stay here”.

“Yes, Leicester match my ambitions”, Vardy, who has two-and-a-half years remaining on his City contract, told Sky Sports “I think the gaffer has come in and told the owners what he wants to do, and he wants to keep progressing”.

With the result beyond doubt, Neymar and Suarez went to pains to try and set up their strike partner Messi, who went close three times and struck the upright before he got his goal to round off the rout in stoppage time. “It could have been Martial or it could have been Rooney because they were not always running behind the central defenders, and I want that”.

Without doubt the story of the Premier League season has been Leicester City’s rise.

“I am very disappointed because I had a feeling we could have won this game and we didn’t do that and we gave the goal away”.

“We thought we’d mark it with a wraparound front and back page which supporters can keep as a record of Jamie Vardy’s extraordinary achievement”. I wanted to change one of the strikers and he was limping and that’s why I chose him.
