Jared Fogle: In his own words

But something odd that was brought up during the closing arguments was that forensic psychiatrist John Bradford testified for the defense and said that it’s possible Jared’s dramatic weight loss lead him to pursue minors – um what?!

Former Florida journalist Rochelle Herman-Walrond recently released recording she secretly made of conversations allegedly of Fogle in which he proposed a wide range of sexual activities with minors.

A former spokesman for a popular sandwich shop will spend more than 15 years in prison.

Jared Fogle, who, according to his lawyer, has become “one of the most despised individuals in America”, earned a fortune by becoming a pitchman for Subway and touting the benefits of a healthy lifestyle that included the chain’s sandwiches.

Fogle agreed to pay a total of $1.4 million to his 14 victims, with each getting $100,000.

He had struck a plea deal with prosecutors in August, which has stipulated that they would not ask for a sentence longer than 12 and a half years.

“The level of perversion and lawlessness exhibited by Mr. Fogle is extreme”, said Pratt. Fogle could have stopped Taylor from victimizing a few of minors, prosecutors have said, but he instead encouraged Taylor to produce additional child pornography.

Fogle pointed out that his wife has also suffered because of his actions. Authorities also believe that Fogle received images and videos of nude children from the former executive director of his charity foundation.

“For most of my adult life, I’ve been in the spotlight, trying to be a role model”, a teary Fogle told the courtroom.

Bradford also said Fogle has an alcohol problem, and had a compulsive eating disorder that moved into “hypersexuality” after he lost weight.

Fogle spoke at his hearing, saying there will not be a day that goes by when he doesn’t think about what he did to his victims, the Indianapolis Star reported.

Fogle also said he wants to help sex offenders and inmates after he gets out of prison, according to a reporter tweeting the court proceedings.

Subway cut ties with Fogle shortly after the raid on his home earlier this year, and his wife filed for divorce after he agreed to plead guilty to the charges.

“I’ve learned so much about the underage minors with whom I’ve paid to have sex with”, he added.

He will serve 15 years and 8 months behind bars, the minimum of which is 13 years, even with good behavior, because federal prisoners must serve 85% of their sentences.

Prosecutors want a 12 ½-year sentence, while Fogle’s attorneys asked for five years.
