NME recently spoke to actor Jared Leto, who is featured in Suicide Squad as The Joker, and he responded to the film’s negative reviews and reception.

“Suicide Squad” had the potential to be as hilariously irreverent as “Deadpool”, a surprise box-office hit about a similarly sociopathic hero. With the new version of the villain played off as more insane rather than the megalomaniac portrayed by Heath Ledger, Leto only gets a small amount of screentime to fully reveal his character, which does little to put an end to the fan’s divide, but makes a good case for future reprisals.
‘The biggest problem with the movie is that, despite all the villains, the main antagonist is as ridiculously silly as something out of Ghostbusters 2. He would like to vanquish the triumphant superhero and reorder the comic universe for more complicated times.

Times film critic Kenneth Turan called it “a concept in search of a story,” raised issues with plot and character development and concluded that “any film that allows you the leisure to ask all these questions is not doing enough right”.
