Any time I publish a harsh pan of a movie, as I did with Suicide Squad and Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, folks pop up on Twitter and Facebook and in the comments on the piece itself to insist that they’ll see the movie anyway, and that audiences will make up their own minds, independent of critical judgement. Smith was fine in my opinion. After all, we see the Joker breaking into the high security incarceration centre, to take Harley Quinn away. Although he does admit he would have liked to see more of Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang and Jay Hernandez as El Diablo.
But here is where it gets interesting. Warner set out to replicate this success while also distancing DCEU from Marvel films by way of endowing its universe with darker visuals and stories, but, by now, it’s clear that there were major problems with the vision and execution for the unfolding franchise.
I went ahead and bolded some choice passages for emphasis. “Just as I came prepared to love the movie, they came prepared to hate it”.

There was also a mainly positive reaction from fans who caught the film ahead of its release, as well as on the tough reviews from the critics.
In the comics, the squad was known for going on politically motivated missions, one that usually dealt with terrorism. It wasn’t even glossed over.
