The British director has directed and written the Bourne series, and admitted he loves the idea of filming a vehicle chase scene in Dublin alongside the River Liffey.
Jason Bourne is officially the No. 1 film in America, and that proves one thing: Matt Damon draws.
With an average opening night audience grade of A-, according to market research firm CinemaScore, “Jason Bourne” appears poised for a healthy run driven by audience word-of-mouth, despite mixed critical reviews.
Matt Damon hasn’t taken on the role of Jason Bourne since 2007, but it doesn’t look as if the long layover has had any ill effect on the interest of moviegoers. Obviously audiences were stoked to see the action man back on big screens, with the sequel managing $52.5 million domestically in the opening weekend.
As for how the summer movie season compares so far with past summers, this past weekend saw the box office take in more money than the equivalent weekend a year ago, with the box office grosses being up by nearly 30 percent, according to Associated Press writer Lindsey Bahr. That’s a strong return on the film’s $20 million production budget. The horror film starring Teresa Palmer and Maria Bello has a US total of $42.8 million with an worldwide box office of $63.6 million. In the interim, the studio had made an ill-conceived attempt at cinematic universe building with The Bourne Legacy, introducing Jeremy Renner as another amnesic ass-kicker dubbed Aaron Cross. The Illumination Entertainment and Universal film has earned a total of $296.2 million.
Anyway, “The Secret Life Of Pets” still captivated people of all ages, as the film comes in fourth with $18.2 million in its fourth week.
