Third-round play will resume at 7 a.m. Sunday morning, PGA officials announced. If not, the tournament could conclude during the week.

There were 10 golfers, including Walker and Day, who played 36 holes Sunday after the third round was suspended Saturday after heavy rains saturated the course.

American Kevin Kisner birdied three of the last four holes for a 65 to grab the clubhouse lead and share sixth overall at five-under 205 with 37 of 86 players able to finish before the storm.

Lee Westwood and Justin Rose had reason to celebrate whatever the outcome of day three of the US PGA Championship at Baltusrol on Saturday. He had a triple bogey on Friday and had to battle extra hard just to make the cut. Eventual victor Henrik Stenson shot 63 in the final round at Royal Troon. The final round is scheduled to begin at 8:40 a.m.in nine-minute intervals with the same pairings from round three. Fifth-ranked Henrik Stenson of Sweden, two weeks removed from his first major victory in the Open Championship at Royal Troon, is fifth at 6-under. The forecast is bad, with more than a 70-percent chance of rain for most of the day.

“Obviously, the rain is going to soften up the golf course, so you’ve got to be a little bit aggressive”, Day said.

Walker and Streb started the third round at 9 under par, two strokes ahead of defending champion Jason Day and Emiliano Grillo.

The third round of the PGA Championship at Baltusrol Golf Club has been called for the day after almost four hours of play being suspended by unsafe weather including a lot of heavy rain. If they play fast, Streb and Walker could be done just after Noon ET.

With the course primed to yield low numbers as the third round continues and with 26 players within six strokes of the lead, the victor of the final major of 2016 remains anybody’s guess. And that’s exactly what the players did in the second round of the 98th PGA Championship.

Players havent so much as figured out the greens over the past two days, as they have taken advantage of the soft surfaces to give themselves shorter putts and used the slower greens to putt more aggressively and eliminate some of the break. He began the back nine by holing a 45-foot bunker shot on No. 10 and making a 30-foot birdie putt on No. 11.

However, the forecast ranged from a 50 per cent to 90 per cent chance of thunderstorms in the 12-hour period between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., raising the distinct possibility of a Monday finish.
